Because the Oculus Quest is a Wi-Fi only device, it's more susceptible to wireless interference that can cause all kinds of symptoms such as:
Symptoms of Wi-Fi Interference or Internet Connection Issues
- Rubber-banding of characters
- Large delays when trying to switch weapons
- "Connection Lost" appears frequently when playing POPULATION: ONE
- Voice comms cutting out, or helicopter-like sounds, or very delayed audio
How to diagnose Wi-Fi or Internet Issues
- On your Oculus Quest, open the Browser from Apps and navigate to packetlosstest.com
- On the test page, click "Or Select a Preset Approximation" and select Apex Legends preset
- Change the Test Duration to be at least 30 seconds
- Click Run Test and screenshot the result.
- If you do file a support ticket, please include the screenshot with your report
Analyzing the Results
- A Good Result
- Average Latency under 150ms
- Less than 1% Packet Loss for Upload and Downloads
- Less than 1% late packets
- Average Jitter less than 5ms
- A Bad Result
- Average Latency greater than 150ms
- Average Jitter greater than 5ms
- Packet Loss for upload, download greater than 1%
- Greater than 1% late packets
Troubleshooting Wi-Fi or Internet Issues
- Try moving your headset closer to the Wireless Access Point and re-test to see if your score gets better
- Check to see if other users of the Internet Connection are doing something bandwidth intensive such as downloading large files. Ask them to pause and see if the score improves.
- Avoid using cellular Wi-Fi connections as they tend to have much higher and inconsistent latencies, resulting in difficulty hitting targets and slowness to switch weapons
- Try using another Wi-Fi network, if possible, to rule out issues with your primary network
